Yup! Same here. I still remember where I was and who I was with the first time I heard that debut album in 1978.

I gather a lot of Dutch surnames have 'van' in them, as kind of a traditional carryover. I think it must mean something like "of". As in; Edward, of Huncote. Maybe Adriaan or FC can straighten it out for us Anglophones.

It does mean "of" or "from", and it's perfectly common. The Belgians include the infix when ordering surnames, the Dutch don't.

Fascinating! I've posted this here before, but if I had it to do over, I would love have studied language. I picked up some German while on tour with some Austrian and German folks years ago. Not nearly enough to be conversational, but enough to generally know what was going on in the green room or the dinner table. Dutch sounds a lot like it to my ears, but softer.

Back on topic, I guess these earlier EVH Signature Models wouldn't balance as well as the more modern one, but that sure is a nice pattern. You just don't see many of them, at least not over here. I had a very fleeting thought of buying one a few years back from a Club Member. Let it go and held out for a Series bass.

If you make a heavy metal bluegrass band, I think Edward Van Huncote would be a great name!
