Redwood Burl from the family
« on: October 10, 2025, 11:58:49 PM »
They turned the redwood burl into this Skylark. It's still not in my hands yet. Mary sent the photos back in June. I should be getting it within the next week or so. The story starts in the "Dreaming for now" section of the forum.

That turned out beautiful. I’m sure you will love playing it.

I love watching the Alembic magicians transform trees into guitars!  Absolutely stunning!

That's a nice redwood top. One of the things I miss about living in California is the wood shop in Monterey that specialized in redwood burls and crotches.

I have a burl redwood bass but it looks more brown in photos, than it is in reality.

I can't wait to see it in real life. Soon.

Turning a piece of wood as shown into that gorgeous guitar takes Alembic out of the profession of luthiers and into one that might best be described as magicians.

It's real. I went there yesterday to pick it up. Bob showed me around the shop. I saw some amazing stuff in different stages of creation. Thanks again to Mary, Mica, James, Bob and the rest of the staff. Here's an interesting shot of the grain and others.
