Well i will find out today as i am on a shoot today with Musical Youth for a TV commercial. Which will air here for 6 weeks alongside social media for 6 months, the repeated again sometime next year.
Taking my quilt maple Series II. Can't say who the client is at the moment or show pics of the shoot till it's released.

An aside question Jimmy, have you ever been asked to do a reggae gig or session of any kind?

Hey Jazzyvee,

Good luck with the commercial shoot.  Be patient and keep smiling, sometimes filming can be a long day.

You know, I haven't studied enough reggae to qualify for a license to play it properly but I've had fun trying on a few occasions for different artists.  Just a track here and there so only an "interpretation" of the real deal.  It's such a great genre for playing bass!

Have a good one,
Jimmy J

This sounds like a fun gig to me, Jazzy. I can't remember doing a TV commercial, though I have done a few TV spots. Not for me, just backing somebody up. (nobody cares about filming the bass player...) I did have a good time (and made pretty good money) doing music for an advertising agency that made locally aired radio commercials there for a while. That was a very good studio experience. Taught me a lot of discipline in playing a part to a track already laid down. Plus, for the next month to six weeks, I'd hear myself playing bass on oil-change ads, or a 20-second monster truck show spot. I even played my Custom fretless on an ad for a... wait-for-it... a Custom picture frame shop. They still air that one sometimes.  ::) ;D

Finished and back home.
It was a really fun experience and I hope this triggers off more for us. Incidentally the crew loved the bass and t will be clearly seen on the film.

Unlike the Roland keyboard, which had to have the brand name taped over, the Series II bass only has a headstock logo so that didn't need to be covered. One of the reasons i decided to take it. So those who watch it and know will work out what bass it is.

An incidental fact about the band is that. Today 40 years ago 'Pass the Dutchie' went to No:1 in the UK pop charts.

Well I have had a couple of calls from my friends who have just caught the advert on TV. So once it appears on social media I will post a link.
For UK members this will only be available on ITV in the Midlands area.
I haven't seen it myself yet. Just hope I like it.

I thought it might be longer than that given the amount of filming that was done on the day. There were some really funny bits that have not made the advert but I hope they get released at some point in the future.

Tina & I loved it.   And great shots of your Alembic!   But doesn’t the dutchie get wet in the shower?   To paraphrase Deep Purple: “smoke on the water … and your joint will get soggy”.
