that's beautiful, GLWS...
The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.

this looks very similar to a ziricote series II that i lost in an ugly divorce about 16 years ago.  but it's not.  mine had an omega with a stinger.  took me a few minutes of frantic digging through photo archives to confirm it.  ya had me going there.  almost spit my coffee up all over my laptop.

10 pounds for a series II is remarkable.  mine weighed almost 14 and i had to wear a back brace when i gigged with it.  my current series II has a full size body  and clocks in at about 13 1/2.  she's large and in charge, baby!  she's an olympic neck-diver, though.  i gotta make sure my left side is clear of bystanders and fragile objects when i take my hand off the neck.  gotta wonder how that lighter body balances.

good luck with your sale, sir.  that is an awesome bass.  were it fretless and wearing LEDs in the neck we'd be discussing which carrier to use to get it into my grasping claws.  the search continues.  arrgh!

Been down...now i'm out!

Getting some interest on Talkbass.com.   Neee to Re measure the string spacing at the bridge.   It’s the traditional Alembic taper from the nut to bridge.  Think it’s 18mm….

Beautiful bass Paul... GLWTS!  Really surprised at the weight especially considering the brass backplates.

Absolute beauty and a nice price. One too many strings for me, unfortunately, but that is going to make someone real happy!

BeenDown,

Your Series II that you had to part with, did it have the engraving "Soon Come" on the back?  If so, I owned that bass too.  It looked very similar to the OP's bass, but it had the Omega stinger.

I parted with it due to the ergonomics.  The Series II electronics were quite cool though.

well as a matter of fact it did.  that always threw me for a loop - pretty screwy name for a bass but then again there's no accounting for taste i always say, especially when ya got a big wad 'o cash burning a hole in yer pocket dontcha know.  that bass was my chocolate princess for a few years.

the sound of that bass was spectacular.  hadda wear a back brace to play a gig with it.  it might have been even heavier and more uncomfortable to play than the series II i currently posses. which is saying a lot.

this is the second or third time one of my long-lost instruments has shown up on this board.  i had a couple of old band-mates come over this afternoon and we were discussing my current bass collection (all 3 of them).  came to the realization that i've had 14 alembic basses pass thru my hands over the last 30 years.  so i guess the odds are one or two will pop up here from time to time.

i'd almost like to say that i'd like that one back but i think the one i got now is way cooler.  imho.  ymmv.  hopefully she's found a good home.  that way we both can move on.  i miss that bass :-(

Joseph - I replied to the email.  The bass is very close to sold to a local SF Bay Area buyer who am meeting in 2 hours.  If it goes sideways, I will contact you.   Thank you for the interest.  The bass. Is long scale 34” with 3/4 scaled down standard body.   Hope that clarifies the question.

The bass sold to Soundworks on Talkbass.  He will likely be joining the Alembic club so look for him on here!
