There seems to be plenty of video and still photos available to create quality documentaries. If Scorsese wants to use character actors to play the parts, he might consider a fictional movie that captures the spirit of the individuals and their collective story rather than specifically portraying them. More like Kerouac with On The Road, and Dharma Bums, or the Greateful Dead songs themselves (The Other One, Cassidy, Dire Wolf, New Speedway Boogie, Casey Jones, West LA Fadeaway, Box of Rain, Attics of My Life, Ripple, Broke Down Palace, it Must Have Been The Roses, etc., etc.). I think that would be more interesting. But maybe that is the intent.
