Another highly questionable modification
« on: May 19, 2021, 12:02:01 PM »
first time i've seen a lefty flipped over, dude must've been bored or something:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/224466390297?hash=item34433d4d19:g:d24AAOSwEjpgpA~c

" Recently setup for right handed playing,.."

i guess that means "we just flipped it over without doing anything to the nut, tailpiece or saddles"  Gotta wonder what the action's like with all the slots the wrong size for the strings.  who knows?  maybe it's the shizzle.

alllrighty, then!  whooo!

Been down...now i'm out!

Probably thought it would be easier to sell as a righty.

Since both the bridge saddles and the nut can be removed, could the parts just be reversed to get the correct bridge/nut slots in the right places? The taper on the nut wouldn't be quite right, but would it fit? Seems the bridge could just be disassembled/reassembled. The tailpiece slots could probably use a bit of work as well.

Obviously that is the "free" solution whereas getting new/correct part would be the better route. And of course the best option would be just to turn it back into the lefty it was meant to be!

Love how it is listed as "rare" - because everybody else knows better than to do this!!!

Probably nothing here that couldn't be undone. I think Jimmy J's guess is as good as anyone's. Relocating the strap button in the back is a shame, but an easy fix at least.

If anyone here gets this one, and is interested, I have a brand-new un-cut set of saddles, and a nut blank, straight from the Mothership. I had design on converting my older Distillate to B-E-A-D tuning, and thought better of it before I could make the time. They should fit this Spoiler just fine. I'll look back and see what I paid, but if it's your first Alembic, and you need them, hit me.
