A little improvement we just started adding to all our Epic, Essence, and Orion basses is now available for retrofitting in your own bass or 2-pickup Activator system. The pan module now includes a DUAL preamp, so there's one gain trimpot for each pickup, instead of one global gain control.
The advantage is the freedom to adjust the pickup height independent of the impact on the gain. When the pickup is closer to the strings, it is louder. But it also changes the tone. It's one of those things that is hard to describe, but if you play with the pickup heights, you will no doubt find places where you prefer sound. With a separate preamp for each pickup, you will be able to even set a P pickup in the neck position close to the strings and a JZ pickup far from the strings and still have the pan function without a volume change.
These are available now in our
online store. For a 2-volume Persuader bass, you will need to convert to a volume/blend and add a 1-volume harness to your order. There are 2 different styles of jack. If you're not sure, just get the original one, but if you have lots of room, get the bigger more heavy-duty jack we're using now. You will still have 3 controls on the front: volume, pan, and your original filter.
