I will make no apologies, since Rick sold me my first Alembic, but I just got home from a Fleetwood Mac concert, and it was, honestly, embarassing. First of all Christine wasn't there, but if I had known what she probably knew, I wouldn't have been there either. It was the Lindsey Buckingham show, complete with an extra drummer, two extra guitar players, two extra vocalists, and some kind of a stand-in keyboard player. And poor Stevie - I dare not say anything more about her! Lindsey has apparently made everyone else get his favorite brand of guitar (which is fine if you're into one note guitar solos), although I saw the other two guitarists frequently switching to Fenders, Gibsons, and other instruments in the background when the lights went down. I am most sorry to report that John has made the above mentioned switch as well, and it is sadly apparent. Fleetwood Mac no longer has a bass that can hold down the music and move it forward. It really sounded like a bunch of tinny drivel. Christine sure must have earned her keep in the past, I mean, 1 keyboard player - who also played an acoustic 12 string, 2 extra guitarists, and 2 extra vocalists. It's really sad. At times, they sounded as despondent as most of the tunes on Pink Floyd's The Wall. As Peter Green would probably say, Oh Well!
