Video backgrounds ?

Does anyone use video behind their band? I see them in videos online especially the psychedelic bands.  But I can't seem to find something to buy to project those images back behind the band.  Or I'm searching the wrong terms. Whatever it is probably costs and arm and leg but it would be nice to know what people are using. It's really cool

We have another show coming on the 26th and of course I hurt my wrist somehow. I don't even remember doing it but it's a little swollen today. Ugh. This old age stuff! bleh -_____-;

My son is in a band/performance-art ensemble who wear costumes (typical outfit:  My son at his drum kit in a red union suit, cape, crown, and shades) while improvising speed-metal over horror flicks, which are projected on/through/behind them; they just set up, point the projector at the stage, and whatever it hits is the "screen".  But I suspect that's not what you're looking for.....

The light show in the videos I recently posted (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=24639.0) was accomplished by two projectors hooked up to a computer.  It’s part of the club’s system, but I think something similar could be put together for not too much $.  The prices on projectors have really come down.   Of course you could always go old school and pick up an old overhead projector, some glass/pyrex plates, oil, and colored water.
