I have a good friend who spent a couple years in Japan, first as a musician at Disney, then a much more lucrative job as a teacher, who taught English and Japanese interchangably. He explained to me one time why it was, and I can't remember exactly why, but there is a reason they don't translate anything like Romance languages do. Some of them are just as humorous the other way around... for instance, he went into a Tokyo music store one time and asked if they had a banjo, The clerk showed him to the restroom. Apparently the words for them are phonetically similar. (make whatever joke you want outta' that!)
*Just for the sake of the thread - I love Distillate guitars... such a simple, elegant design. I'm not guitar player enough to need one, but I'd sure like to find one over here. They turn up every now and then, and get scooped up quickly.
