I just bought a used epic 5 string from 1996 Ser#96W10448USA and was wondering if anyone can tell me how much a bass like this cost new? It's my first Alembic and I know it's a ower priced model but am curious anyway.

A 5 string Epic currently lists at 3700$.

Congratulations! The list price for a new Epic 5 string with no custom upgrades is $3,700. I don't know what you could get one for at a retail store.

New one in a store would be around $2800. As you can see with age alembic basses lose their price (but not value!).

Congrats on the purchase...BTW, how much did you pay for it, if you don't mind my asking? I bought my '96 5-string Epic for $900 (S/N: 96W10040). A definite steal if you ask me!!!
