Europa VS Rogue

hello again everybody, I finally have enough funds to purchase my second alembic, my first being an maple body epic.  I cant decide between the europa or rogue 4 string.  They both look tasty, question is, whats the difference between the 2 besides body shape? do they sound any different? balance? weight?  Maybe you all can help me, hate to sound stupid, but im lost..thanks

They have the same pickups and electronics. Apart from body shape, key differences are:
1. Europa is the most afordable Alembic with purpleheart neck laminates as standard - extra cost on Rogue.
2. Extra long scale (35) is no cost option on Rogue. Extra on Europa.
3. Crown peghead is no cost option on Rogue. Extra on Europa.
4. Different shaped tailpieces.
5. Mother of pearl inlays standard on Europa - extra on Rogue.

the crown headstock is now an extra option on both models according to the quote generator.  The Europa has 2 accent laminates;  Rogue models generally have just one, but I don't know if that's changed recently. The Rogue used to come standard with an oil finish, but now it comes with a polyester finish like the Europa. The big differences are the purpleheart laminates, the scale lenght & the inlays.
 
Balance is pretty similar.
 
 If you are thinking of ordering a new one ( rather than buying it off the shelf) you can have a lot of stuff customized to your liking.  Much of it will cost you extra, but a lot of it will be no extra charge. I always thought that the oval inlays were standard on the Rogue as well.

Rami, I had always thought that as well, until last week when I was monkeying around with the custom quote gen. It defaults to the MOP inlays and designates them as 'standard', but for $200.

All that stuff aside, I absolutely love my Rogue 5-string the best of the four Alembics I own.

I own a Europa 6 and I love it but it's very very very heavy, even with a comfort strap. it's like wearing a coffee table but you can't beat the sound.

asking for opinions about alembics is like asking a room full of mother what they think about their babies, there's no end to them, but you'll find that we all love the ones we have. Personally, I think the Rogue has a sexy, sleek look. I think that's my next buy, but with Signature electronics.

I've never played a Rogue, so I can't really compare. But, I do own two Europa 6-string basses, and I can tell you they are the best bases I've ever owned. That list includes many. I guess, in an ideal world you could try both and see which one suits you best. Alembic6 is correct when he says they are heavy, I've had many a sore shoulder and neck. But I still love it, it weel worth it. I fell in love with mine in 92 and I've never looked back.

Thanks so much for all your help, either which way, I cant go wrong, I just hope I can find a dealer around here that has both a rogue and europa so I can actually sit down (or stand up) and try these puppies out. Hopefully then I can get this show on the road! Thanks again!!!
