International Bluegrass Festival this weekend
« on: September 25, 2018, 02:38:05 PM »
The International Bluegrass Festival and IBMA Awards starts today. The awards begin today and the outdoor festival for regular folks starts Friday at noon and runs through Saturday night in Raleigh, NC. There will be a mixture of paid and free shows at local venues and side streets off of Fayetteville St. If you have a chance to go it is worth it even if you don't pay to see any of the bigger names in bluegrass as the folks playing the free stages aren't slouches. Rene and I will likely go on Saturday so if anyone might want to meet up for a beer or bite to eat email me at the address in my profile.

Had an Alembic mini-meet-up last year with Keith and his delightful Bride in my old hometown of Raleigh, N.C. It's a great time if you can make it! Here's the schedule for the Wide Open Street Festival:

Wish I could make it again this year, but it just ain't in the cards... :(

Update- just want to say, I glanced through that schedule, and there are some incredible bands throughout. You could make a circuit and see an awesome show all day long.

I would not miss Alison Brown, or the Kenny & Amanda Smith Band. Too many to list. Wow!
