The Distillate was not really discontinued, more like dropped from the catalog. We still make them on custom request.
The reason we drop models from time to time is usually a reflection of the current style. Distillates are 32 scale by default, and we felt we didn't need 2 standard models in medium scale (at the time, Spoilers were in the brochure too).
By the mid 90s, more and more customers were going l-o-n-g-e-r with 35 and 36 scales (we even made one 38 scale) and the medium scales fell out of fashion.
But nothing is ever really discontinued, we just have to keep the brochure down to about 16 pages.
