Pickup output adjustment

Hi,  I am sure this is a simple question but... I just bought a 1990 Elan six string and the neck pickup is not quite as loud as the bridge one with my setup. Should I raise/lower them or adjust something inside the control cavity to get what I want?

Whoops, actually, it's the bridge pickup that's too quiet.

Does your Elan have trim pots on the volume pots inside the electronics cavity?  If so, I believe they are for gain adjustments. If not, raising the bridge pup will add gain, as lowering the neck pup will decrease gain on that one. But before you change the height of your pickups, please read this: from http://www.alembic.com/support/care.html  
 
When you want to change the pickup height:  
 
 
Loosen the two upper screws.  
Adjust the height of the lower screws to where you prefer.  
Tighten the upper screws enough to secure the pickup in place, just enough to hold the pickup snugly.  
Use some amount of care when adjusting pickup height because if you overtighten the top screws, you could possibly crack the pickup housing.

If you open the electronics cavity you'll find two adjustment pots. These control the volume of there respective pickups.
 
I would make sure your pickup(s) height is set correctly first before experimenting with the volumes. However I will mention that my bridge pickup volume was set rather high.
 
My Elan's pickup high adjustnents are currently set with the bridge fairly close to the strings and the neck is quite low, away from the strings. I guess this is more to do with the set-up. You can find loads more info if you search on 'set-up'. This may give you a better insight.

Yes, there are two little adjustment pots in there. I like the sound quality, so I'll tweak the trim pots.
