North central Wisconsin - about a month ago their was an audible shift from the wind moving through the trees.  No visual, just a change in tone.  Two weeks pass and spots of color start to appear on the leaves.  Yesterday I could have sworn I turned my back and when I looked back south down The Hill a bank of my neighbors trees turned from green to a light auburn orange.

So, is it time to head north for some leaf viewing & New Glarus buying?

That's some of the most beautiful poetry I've ever read. It does exactly what good poetry is supposed to do, I think. I envy your eloquence.

Forest, your words are very kind - thank you.

Peter, it is always a good time to get some New Glarus beers.  I sadly miss Black Top and Road Slush, but currently have some Moon Man in the fridge (in cans!) and Coffee Stout should be back in season!  We are at approximately 60% color with peak happening in the next couple weeks . . .  winter can come fast here.

60%?  How far north are you?  Sunday may need a drive!
And I really wish 1) they'd sell in IL and 2) they'd make Abt again (on my beer-geek-spread-sheet 1-10 rating, it got an 11)

Just south of Tomahawk in Lincoln County.  Just near the top of Irma Hill (aka The Hill).  If you plan on driving up this far send me an e-mail (in profile).

The New Glarus brewery has a lot of small batch brews that were very delicious.  Curious that they don't expand their distribution . . . . although last I heard they are comfortable being a niche specialist - kinda like a certain bass / guitar family run business we all know and love.

Well, it turns out She has other plans for this Sunday - and when we do come, I doubt we'll make Waupaca, let alone Tomahawk (though when I lamented not having Ashland artisian well water to brew with as our son is no longer in school up there, she asked if I wanted to take a drive &  get some - so you never know......)

Peter (who never returns from beyond the Cheddar Curtain with an empty trunk; Fat Squirrel, Spotted Cow, Stone Soup, Staghorn, Two Women, Uffa-Da, Cabin Fever, Road Slush, Dancing Man....bring it on! )
