Well, All I've got to say is ..I was totaly blown away at the Glendale Arena show. My fellow bandmates and I were jumping out of our seats like fourteen year old girls after every song! Three hours of live McCartney! The man sure loves to perform. Before he came out there was a short film on several large screens recapping his career ( like there is anyone out there who doesn't know the history! ) Prior to that there was a DJ who was doing remixes of Beatle songs for about twenty minutes. I could have done without that part. As the story goes this DJ sent a copy of some of his work to Sir Paul who apparently liked what he heard, phoned up the DJ and gave him access to all the master tapes and then invited him on the tour. WOW, Lucky S.O.B.
Anyway, There's nothing like attending a concert where the musical soundtrack of your life is lovingly peformed for your pleasure. Time and reality had ceased to exist for that magical three hours. The band was excellent, faithfully reproducing both the music and vocals from the opening, Magical Mystery Tour, to Please Please Me, Eleanor Rigby, Maybe I'm Amazed and on and on to the new album and finally to the closing of Sgt.Pepper's reprise/ The End , where the the other two guitarists traded solos with Paul. Interspersed with the band numbers Paul would don his Martin or Epiphone Texan while the band left the stage and drop right into Yesteday or Blackbird, I Will and Jenny Wren while giving us some backround on what inspired hime to write them! Pauls stage demenor was as if he were talking to one person in his living room instead of twenty thousand in an arena! Relaxed and confident but very open and down to earth. A refreshing change from the giant egos you sometimes encounter in this business. Two encores later he came out once more to sign autographs thrown at him from the front rows. All and all, An unforgettable experience. My bandmates and I drove 650 miles to see him and would gladly do it again! Mike
