This was pretty cool. Quite enjoyable! The highlight for me was Eyes Of The World > Estimated Prophet > Terrapin Station.

Glad you liked it, Dave! That is a wicked segue, to be sure. I love Phil's intro on Estimated. I saw them for the first time in April of '90 at the Omni in Atlanta. It felt like the music I had been waiting my whole life to hear (or at least since 4th grade, when I was transported by an orchestra in my grade school gym). They played The Other One at that show, and although I didn't know what it was (hadn't heard but a few tapes by then), I couldn't get it out of my head. That summer I went to see them at Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, KY, the source of the bonus footage on the View from the Vault DVD. They blew my mind again when they did one of the most amazing Other One teases (KY jam on the DVD) but never made it into the lyrics. I had no idea what to think. It wasn't until I found a good source for tapes that I discovered I wasn't crazy.

There are a number of close ups of Phil playing; and it was nice to watch him smoothly and effortlessly move around the fretboard. It was also interesting watching Brent; he looks like he was having fun!

Brent was the best - he brought it all to the table - wrote good tunes, sang with that great gravelly, bluesy voice, played great keys...particularly loved him on the Fender Rhodes & Hammond B-3. His death took a great deal of steam out of that band.

Brent was great, Paul.
I always wished they could have kept Hornsby permanently. He has a great sound and ear, and he provided a lot of inspiration for Jerry in particular. View from the Vault II (RFK '91) has some really tasty Hornsby on it, particularly the Maggie's Farm.

I was at that show...it may have been my 1st post Brent show. Bruce is a great & versatile player and was nice to lend a helping hand until they got Vince worked in. I still went to see the Dead after Brent passed, but to me, it felt like something was askew. I missed his firey vocals, that lush Hammond B-3 & his innate musical sensibilities.

I've got the view from the vault IV I think...Oakland & Anaheim. It's good, although I prefered #1, from Pittsburgh.

Paul, I was at that show too! We were in the first row of the stadium seats for Dwight and then when the Dead started playing we were getting crushed up against the railing, so over we went! First set was wild..like they were inciting the madness or feeding off it, or both.

I was at the Truckin' Up to Buffalo Show. At the time, I didn't think it was anything special (having seen my first show in '76 at the Boston Music Hall, I was a little jaded by then), but I really enjoyed the DVD. Definitely some fun stuff and great interactions. I like it better than the View From The Vaults I have seen.

Still waiting for Sunshine Daydream.
