Does anyone here have Brian Bromberg's Metal album?  I heard Through The Window off that album on internet radio and loved it.

I love that overdriven tone he's using with the piccolo bass on Through The Window.  That's the only tune I've heard off the album.  Is the rest of the album like that?  Nothing I found on youtube has that tone.

Dave,
I went to Amazon and found the typical clips they post for each song... it sounded very similar throughout.

Brian also released a bass instruction video, where he shows his favorite techniques.  My copy is a VHS tape that I found on E-bay.  The e-live music service did not seam to have some of his older releases, which were quite fabulous.  Thee can also be found on e-bay search using Brian Bromberg.

I just listened to the clips as well.  The Carlos tune sounds nice.  I really like the tone he's able to get.  I'm wondering if I might be able get something like that on my six string.  I wouldn't have the upper end range that a piccolo bass would have; but a good bit of what he's doing would be within the six string's range.  I picked up an overdrive on ebay a couple weeks ago that is supposedly on its way here (it got shipped to the wrong address and is being rerouted).  I wasn't sure if I would be happy with it, so hearing Bromberg's Metal tunes is encouraging.  Hopefully, I'll find out next week.

I saw Brian play at a reception at NAMM just after Metal came out - so Brian was shredding on picolo and Rudy Sarzo was on bass. Was pretty cool.

I think it was an Accugroove cab - can't remember the head - it wasn't super loud - so the distortion was coming from pedals not the rig.

I got introduced to Brian by my ex wife..he is astounding player on both electric and acoustic.
Another player that when I listen just wants me to sell my gear and grow vegetables in quiet secluded garden
