Great Internet Interactive "Radio" Site
« on: August 01, 2009, 06:30:40 PM »
So I'm unpacking boxes and setting my computer room up.  While I'm working I've been listening to a great site that I thought I'd mention (as I take a break before my bandmates come over for an acoustic rehearsal in half an hour).  Anyway, the site is pandora.com.  You type in the group or groups, style, whatever you like and it starts playing tunes commercial free.  If one comes up you don't like, you just click on thumbs down and it skips the tune and never plays it again.  So I'm listening to my own personal Grateful Dead station.  It doesn't play only Dead, but also adds other tunes it thinks I might like.  So far I've heard the Dead, Garcia, Dylan, Marley, Clapton, Allman Brothers, and it just started playing Love Me Two Times by the Doors.  Great site.  Enjoy.

I use Pandora a lot; I've heard a lot of things I really like that I had never heard before.

Bill,
I put something up about Pandora a few years back. I would have figured it was right up your ally. They have just come in with some changes if you are a heavy user (40 hrs/month). I think it is something like $1.00 for unlimited use if you go beyond 40 hrs. The other option is to pay a $36.00 yearly fee which gives you unlimited use, no commercials and a better stream rate with no need for a browser. I have not gone over the 40 hr limit, but do come close. You will get a good laugh at some of the bands that will pop up under the Grateful Dead banner. I think that Kiss came up once and I can't think of a band more diametrically opposed than that.

Regards,
Pete
P.S. Pictures of the new purchase please

Pandora rocks... I have my stations and then the C.E.O./C.F.O. has her easy listening Jack Johnsom type of music.

P.S. I would like to see Bill's new purchase too...

I found and hooked up my camera's docking station.  Now all I have to do is find the camera.  It's hiding in a box somewhere in this house.  Maybe today?  I don't recommend moving to anyone!

Unfortunately I cannot access Pandora due to licensing restrictions broadcasting outside the US. Shame as I was looking forward to hearing the music.
