Sheeze, I am 49 years old. Built a bass in shop class when I was in High School, been playing since I was 6, yet, anything I post on this site never even gets a response.

Not sure how anyone is supposed to be aware of this or why it is relevant.  Sorry you felt snubbed, but its just an internet forum.  I like to visit to drool over the pics and sometimes get some valuable info.

It is the Alembic Club in name only and there are no initiation rituals or prerequisites.

P.S. Where is the post you made that didn't get any response?  Try to link it here and you'll probably get some attention now.

slammin, don't get discouraged, I don't even own an alembic but I have mostly sat back and read the posts and if one stirred the juices I'd add my 2 cents in. I always found every one in the forum do be exceptionally responsive, but sometimes I will post an observation, link or comment and don't really expect to get any response. If I do then great, if not well that's ok too. But I never feel like I can't express my opinon or pose a question that goes unread. I think when you have a significant amount of older. maybe I should say seasoned players hanging in the forum we only really respond when something either gets to us or stirs some memories about the good old days

Ivan, this has, for me, turned into a very interesting thread that reflects my experience on the club.  As I started reading the posts I was thinking I'm going to post that I have often thought that I am the thread killer.  A thread is interesting, everyone seems to be having a great chat, I post something and the thread goes flat.  Then, as often happens, someone else said it first.
Often, I have something to say and someone else says it; no reason for me to say it again unless it's one of the Hey, how many of you out there .....? type of threads.  So many of us have had the same experiences over the years and have the same comments to make.
The only threads I truly ignore are the ones in which someone seems to be trying to stir someone up and pick a fight.
There are others that I never post to because I don't know anything about the topic.  I read them because I want to learn but I have nothing to add.  For example, the technical stuff is way over my head.  When people start talking about the Series instruments (which I do not own) I just stay out.
So, Ivan, I don't think anyone is intentionally leaving you out of the conversation.  I hope you continue to post to the threads that interest you.  Things around here have changed a bit but I think this is still a very civil and respectful bunch of folks.

To quote the great Marx (Groucho, I mean):

I would never join a Club that accept me...
Not just a bass, this is an Alembic!

well well...I can relate to how slammin Ivan felt. (past tence, it appears he's gone) or he's  just sitting back laughing!
It does seem to get a little stuffy on some threads at times to me. I post very little but when I have, my attempts to partisipate don't seem to generate much responce.
That's possibly because what ever I posted may not have deserved a responce. I can accept that.
When I have attemped humor, I've recieved sarcasm. I can accept that too. Whose fault is that? Mine and none other!
It's  dificult communicating (for me anyway ) personality and feelings on this form. So, as for me..I take it with a bucket of salt..you can't take it too personal...
if you do it is time to turn it off or do what I and many others do....sit back, stop posting for a while & read the threads, which is what I'ma fixin ta do!
This is www.internet , the whole world is here, and we all are in this together and we certainly ain't gonna get out of here alive!

We gotta get out of this place..if its the last thing we ever do.... girl there's a better place for me & you! (Eric Burdon)
