I just scored a good deal on a Bass Pod Pro and would like to use it for effects only. I like my F-1X so I don't need the modeling capabilities (at least not live). I've read the manual and am confused about using the F-1X (or any preamp for that matter) and Bass Pod Pro together. Anyone else use this combination? If so, what input/output are you using on the Bass Pod Pro?

i have the same put havent used the 2 together yet
youxould send the output of the bass into the pod and use the modeling output- not the direct into the fx-1
as an fyi= the fx works best around 7 on the volume
so start low on the volume from the pod so not to blow anything
or
use the pod after the f1 by connecting the output from the fx1 into the input to the pod and the modeling jack out to the amp
i think this might be better electrically spkg

I don't see the need to use the modeling during a gig since I already have the F-1X preamp but to use the effects it looks like the only way to do it is to set the Pod Pro to apply effects to the D.I. and use the unbalanced D.I. out on the Pod Pro into the F-1X effects return. I'm afraid I'll have an impedance mismatch by doing this. Isn't the F-1X return expecting an instrument level signal? The Bass Pod Pro D.I. out is line level.

I'm no electronics expert, but I had a gentleman from California (actually, an ex-employee of Stars Guitars) put together a transformer box that allows me to take mics down to instrument level and vice versa (XLR on one side, 1/4 on the other). I think this takes care of the impedance differences, and could solve the problem you're describing.

A search on Google for 'transformer mic line' brings up this page, which may be some commercial versions of what I've got.

Again, my knowledge of electronics is limited at best, but hopefully this helps.

You can simply turn off amp modeling and run the in's and out's thru the preamps effects loop, at that point the Pod will act like any other effects proscessor. I've tried this thru a Mesa and a Mark Bass head and it worked fine. Check your manual for the procedure, the keystrokes can get to be a pain tho.
