MICK KARN - MONSTER SOUND!

Wow, I have just listened to Mick Karn again for the first time in about twenty years! I had completely forgotten about Mick for some insane reason - WHAT A MONSTER PLAYER!

His bass tone is absolutely incredible and he has to be one of the great fretless bass exponants along with Percy Jones!

Wether or not you connect with his musical style his approach to the instrument has to be admired.

John.

Yeah, I love Mick Karn. Totally idiosyncratic playing, totally cool and absorbing. His lines are so interesting and out of left field and perfect for what's going on.

Fabulously original player with an impossible-to-copy style, though I've picked up a few of his licks and approaches over the years - saw him live  with Terry Bozzio and David Torn back in the 1990s,  Amazing, and if there were no Alembic I'd scour the earth for a bass just like the fretted Wal played during parts of that show.

Well, I had a Wal custom back in the eighties and it was absolutely superb - but it weighed more than my car
