How's the weather?

Gregory:

DO IT!  You'll never regret it.  One thing you should be aware of, though, is that Southern California is a completely different universe from Northern California.  They've got smog, urban sprawl, flatlands, and beautiful blond women who wear open-toed sandals in case they have to count to 20, (and have boyfriends in case they have to count to 41).  Northern California has healthier air, far more interesting and beautiful topography, intelligent women, and, of course, we've got Alembic!  Seriously, if you have any questions about the left coast, ask away.

Thanks Bill....The thought of a climate where you can walk outside in shorts and a tshirt 365 days a year and not encounter extreme cold or humidity is pretty damn appealing.

I suspect Northern CA might be the place for me, but I need to go where the jobs are..  I do actually have tons of questions, probably best for me to email you offline once I get my thoughts in order.

Greg,

Feel free to email any questions you might have about the Southern part of the state to me via the email address in my profile.

Don't be too scared by Bill's warnings... he's just mad because we steal all their water.

2 - 3 inches of snow in Nashville and 9 degrees this morning.  The snow started right before rush hr yesterday and it only too 2 hrs to do a 30 minute commute.  Luckily I know the secret back road that goes back into our area.  But it has one very steep hill.  I'll piddle away at the house today and probably play some (a new bass really motivates).  I found some pretty cool bass lessons on You-Tube last night.  Will probably keep me occupied until my arm starts hurting.

But all in all, can't really complain too much about the weather in Mid-TN.  Not as hot as south of us in the summer and not as cold as north of us.  As they say around here if you don't like the weather, just wait a day or two

When my wife informed me in 1986, that she wasn't happy in the bay area, (We lived in beautiful Marin County) and that she wanted to try moving back home to L.A. I was faced with a problem. If I refuse, as was my inclination, then whe would likely resent me for all time. If I agreed, then I would have to live in L.A.  (Nooooooooooo!!!!!!) So I formulated this secret plan, I would move, suffer for a year, then insist on returning to the Glory of the San Francisco Bay area. (I really do love it up there.)

That was 1986, I've been in L.A. ever since, and will likely die here, hopefully in another 40 or 50 years.........

The block where I live, about 3 miles from the ocean, has the best weather, IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, yep, my block. Theater, music, used instrument stores, beaches, mountains, deserts, food, food, and better food. Many fine people, and the stereotypes are a source of everyday comedy.

I would posit that L.A. is like many large Urban areas in the world, whether you are happy or miserable here, depends more on what you bring to it, than the inherent nature of the place.

I LOVE L.A. YMMV
