Distillate Long Term Storage

I hope everything's okay and this is just a long trip you're taking.
 
IMHO no Alembic should be in long-term storage unless absolutely necessary.  Personally, I think I'd find a way to take mine with me if I was going to the South pole or to climb Everest.
 
Battery removal is a must if you're talking months. Other than that, I personally wouldn't de-tune if by storage you are referring to a centrally air-conditioned and heated home that's stable with respect to humidity. But where it's going to be stored and the temps and humidity flucuation it would experience would make a difference.

I doubt you need to take the battery out, unless the storage is likely to present great swings in temperature and/or humidity - in which case you should consider finding a better location because it might be detrimental to the instrument as a whole and not just the battery.
 
If you have a Distillate with the battery-draining LED undisconnected. then you should probably disconnect it.

Leave the bass tuned. Remove the battery if you are talking a year or more. Try to put it somewhere where you wouldn't mind being for the same length of time as far as temperature/humidity swings are concerned.
 
Are you storing where no people will access it or will someone be able to check in on things?
 
If someone can visit your bass in storage, have them flick switches and rotate the pots back and forth a few times once in a while (maybe twice a year minimum, more if possible). That will help prevent a major flick and twist session once it's out of deep storage.
