Sale Price of 4-5 year old Tribute
« on: October 28, 2008, 11:41:28 AM »
I'm thinking of selling my tribute, bought from Guitar Showcase in early 2004 for $5,000.  It is in excellent shape, has a small indentation on the back of the neck from a fall, but otherwise is pristine.  Has LED's on the top of the neck.  It would come with the original case and a nice firm and light semi-soft case.

What do people think this guitar should sell for?  Thanks!

I bought one made in 2001 with a brass back-plate without led's for
$4000 a few weeks ago. I saw one go on ebay a couple of days ago
here
go for $6600. It had wood backplates and leds.

Mine for $4k doesn't look like anyone ever played it. There is not the
slightest hint of fretwear on any of the frets. I think I got a pretty
good price. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I hadn't been able
to play it though. The guy wanted to do a local deal and wanted
cash. After I played it, I decided I really needed it.

With leds you should get more than I paid. If you have wood back
plates as well you may be able to get close to what the $6600 one went
for on ebay depending on the damage to the back of the neck.

I don't have any hints on how to get the most for it. Patience may be
key. It may take a while for someone with money to want what you have.

Todd.

David:

Any interest in a trade, or are you looking for cash, only?

Dave can you post some pix?  Please do a close up of the damaged area.  I might be interested.  I will also talk to my nephew.  The Tributes are beautiful.  I would also like to add a  new member to the family.

I was bidding on the one on ebay last week. It looked like a particularly nice model. Pics would help

I apologize, I got distracted by family issues and have just now checked back.  Thanks to everyone for their replies.  I will try and get decent pics of it up.  I really do want to slim down my collection and get the cash, too, but am always interested in seeing/hearing what people have in mind for trade.  I don't think I'll keep it, it just comes to when I get the time to put pictures up, list it at Craigslist (prefer to do a local transaction), etc...  Thanks all!
