Series II Fretless 8 String Bass
« Reply #30 on: September 29, 2006, 07:27:41 AM »
Just opened it up.  OH MY!  With the exception of a nick here and there, it's in like-new condition.  It even smells new.

I don't have an amp at work and can't wait to get it home.  Unbelievably playable, though (ignoring for the time being the tones it is producing as the strings clearly haven't been tuned up for a while).

MORE GRAPHITE!!!

One of my favorite non-Alembics is a five string Devon with a graphite bolt-on neck.  A great bass but a shadow of what Santa Rosa can do with the concept.  Interestingly, Devon won't do graphite necks anymore either.  Quality control issues that sound like what got Alembic off of them.

Wanted to thank my seller.  I think she was just doing a friend a favor, but I wish she played.  She is absolutely the kind of person that we hold in high regard here.

Pictures will follow.  A familiar refrain--the pictures posted here did not capture how nice it is.  I've ordered new strings and may take some shots of the change--it might give everyone a better look.

Again, thanks for the congrats.
