If I had the money and was looking for a Standard Point S1, I'd jump on it at $2800. Yeah, I could try offering $2600 for it, and see what happens. But it'd be worth the extra $200 to me to lock it up at the current Buy Now price.
Yes, it likely needs the upgrade. And it's kinda plain, for all of being burl maple. But it'll be 30 years old next year, and that adds value to me. Bottom line is, I think it's currently priced at or slightly below it's value.
