I Like Orange (NYC)
« on: November 10, 2005, 07:56:05 AM »
The band I'm in, I Like Orange, will be playing Friday the 11th at 9:30, at:

The Lion's Den, 214 Sullivan, btw. Bleecker/W 3rd.

Two girls singing original rock/punk/funk and soul backed by guitar, drums and yours truly on the Epic 5.

If you're in the neighborhood stop by and say hello.

I Like Orange

Dec 1st.  9:30pm.

Kenny's Castaways
(Bleeker b/w Sullivan and Thompson)
New York City

At the last gig we were followed by a Berklee (College of Music) band and the bass player gets on stage after me with my EXACT bass.  Five string/mahogany/bocate Epic.  I thought he'd grabbed mine; almost got mighty angry.

Anyway I told him to surf over to the club and introduce himself.  And the bass sounded good from the floor.

So check it out if you're around NYC Thurs the 1st of Dec.  You might get two 'Becs for the price of one.

Happy Thanksgiving to everybody.

Jack, glad he didn't borrow your bass without asking.  That was an honest reaction of yours, though.  What's the chance that the exact same bass would follow yours.

That Kenny's Castaways has been around a long time.  I was in there once in 1977, not playing, just visiting.

Rich- When I saw this kid jump up on stage bass in hand (even though my case was closed five feet away) I almost shot first and asked questions later.  Only a silly grin on his face stopped me.  Anyway, really nice guy, and good player.

Dave- Although my bandmates are pretty sure we're two days away from selling out MSG (and I'll do everything in my power to help them), this is all I really wanted when I moved to NYC.  To play music I (co-)wrote in some legendary venues.  My dad (a pretty square non-musician) told me about seeing Bob Dylan and others at these places I've played, The Bitter End, Back Fence, etc.  It's just cool to be up there and think about who's been before you.

Cheers, Happy Thanksgiving.

PS I didn't know Fernandez made Alembic copies (over in the eBay thread).  Aside from the lack of emblem, that looks pretty good.  If I saw one in a pawn shop for a grand I'd be the first sucker with his wallet open.  I'd be interested to see how that turns out.  I assume Alembic monitors those sites for copies.

Yes, Mica has frequently responded to listings on Ebay.  Of course she's doing a million other things as well and I don't know if she has seen this particular listing.

Here's a new message from ILO:

Dearest Fans,

We are pleased to announce a couple of upcoming shows.  Our first of the two for the month of April is at The Lion's Den on Thursday, April 6th at 9pm (The Lion's Den is on Sullivan b/w Bleeker and W. 3rd).  We truly hope to see you there.  Secondly, we will be playing at Rare (aka R&R...14th b/w 9th and Washington) on April 27th at 9:30pm.

Whaddya say, Alemboids?

PS I've been having a blast on this site.  Just reading posts, digging into the archives, I've learned a ton.  There's a wide variety of talent in the contributors: lawyers, electricians, professional thieves (stockings!).

PPS Somewhere on here there's a post about wearing Hawaiian shirts.  Guilty!

Take care, Jack
