Kimberly's Solo Bassist Gigs
« on: December 31, 2010, 02:11:14 PM »
Hi Guys!

After many, many, many months, (2+ years), my thumb/tendon injury has recovered enough to start booking and playing some gigs again.

Starting the New Year.

January 5th 8-11pm (and every Wednesday for that matter)

Tizley's Europub
18928 Front St NE.
Poulsbo, WA

My on-going open mike at the Europub.  This date marks the four year anniversary of open mike.  I couldn't tell you how many people I've seen come and go over this time, but needless to say, it's been a wonderful experience and helped keep my music alive even though only playing 1/2 - 1 hour per Wednesday, depending on turnout, my health/playing ability and supporting local musicians.  If you're in the area, feel free to come on in, it's good fun.

January 8th, 8-10pm - Tizley's Europub

My first two hour gig in about nine months.  As has been stated in various promotions, Kimberly Lynn provides both originals and covers, with a mix of eclectic jazz, blues, rock and latin influenced material.  I've always liked that phrase.  ;D

January 28th, 8-10pm also at Tizleys Europub

February 4th, 8-10pm also at Tizleys Europub

February 5th, 7-9pm

Forza Coffee
9995 Silverdale Way NW
Ste 113
Silverdale, WA 98383

A new performance venue for me, though I've done an open mike there.  Should be a lotta fun.

February 25th, also at the Europub.

All of the Europub gigs are being done gratis, (with the exception of my open mike), as I recently learned their budget is unable to support live music every weekend as in years past.  I've offered my services to keep them from 'going dark' and to help keep the music and the place alive.  If you're a local please come on in and buy a drink or eat a meal.  They're good folks and have given a lot to the local community.  The way I see it is, it's time to 'give it back'.

And that's the way it is.

Updates as they happen.  Nuff for now.  ;)

Best Regards and Happy New Year!

Hi David,

Thank you very much!

As you can easily imagine I'm sure, being able to play without the fear of re-injury is quite the relief to put it mildly.  I still have to exercise caution (and still ice my hand for general principle after playing/practicing), but as long as I use what little common sense I have left, I'm able to practice, start relearning my old material and even better, new stuff!  I'm currently working on a 'Kimberlyesque' version of 'Feet Don't Fail Me Now' with New Orleans style horn section riffs/solo parts combined with a 'Little Feat' style rhythm section feel.  So far it's a four loop piece with my synth for melody and the horn section stuff, and the rhythm section (and some soloing) using 'straight' bass.  Way cool, way fun!

I'm also still playing around with the 'Nuevo Flamenco' genre.  It really translates well to the six string by the way.    ;)

I've started reviving my Beatles medley stuff too.  A 10 minute version with seven tunes.  Working awesomely!

I would imagine I'll be able to get some new videos up in the next couple of months while I'm starting to gig again.  Well...as long as I don't crash and burn that is.  ;)

Rereading what I've written it appears some things will just never change like, way too many words!  :D

  Back on topic.  ;)

Good to be back, thank you!

  Best Regards,

  Kimberly

Hi Guys,

Doing some quick catching up.  ;)

Wolf, thank you much!  It's good to be back.

Mike, thank you also!  Nice to 'see you again' as well.

Okie dokie.  On to the biz.  ;)

I'm going to start hosting a new open mike in Silverdale, WA at the Old Town Bistro every Monday from 8-11pm starting February 14th.

Located at 3388 NW Byron St. Silverdale, WA.

360-698-9463

Sounds like it'll be a good little gig to fill in an 'off night' (Mondays).  We've agreed to try it for a month and see how it goes.  As luck would have it, (combined with running my other open mike for a bit over four years now), I've got the experience and more importantly, the 'network' of contacts.  We'll see how it goes but regardless, it's more play time, experience and exposure.

Life is good.

Best Regards,

Kimberly

Hi Guys,

Upcoming gig(s).

Saturdays, April 2nd and 9th.
8-10pm

Manchester Pub
2350 Colchester Drive East
Manchester, WA 98353
(360) 871-2205

Kinda a funny story.  I went to the Manchester Pub a few weeks ago where a friend of mine runs an open mike on Sundays.  As luck would have it, when I arrived he was standing outside.  Lucky cause he said from the look on my face he thought I was going to 'bolt' due to all the bikes and bikers. ;) Don't get me wrong now, as heck I ride a bike and have the leathers *and* the t-shirt.  I guess I was just feeling outta place as I was actually dressed quite nicely, *in a dress*.

Another friend had mentioned this gig as, You remember the Blues Brothers movie and the chickenwire around the stage?  I laughed at the time and didn't think too much more about it until I arrived and realized he wasn't kidding!  So, there I am, dress, makeup, heels, hair done up nice.  Oh dear...  ;)

Anyway, I helped my friend, or he helped me by letting me play along with him for the first few songs or so.  That really helped steady the nerves.  Then I played a few and brought the house down and got myself booked in for these two weeks with the intent, if all goes well, to have me play regularly twice a month *and* when the weather starts getting nicer, the very strong possibility of playing every weekend.  Nice!

And of course, as should be no surprise, everybody was friendly, supportive, down to earth, Here have my shirt off my back, good folks.

It was just that initial 'Uh oh' moment that got me going.  Just goes to show you can't tell just by looking.

I'm also going to do the Poulsbo Farmers Market again this summer.  I'm not sure if it's my third or fourth time doing the market, but it's one of my favorites for local gigs.

Saturdays, May 28th and August 20th.

10-12pm.

The Poulsbo Farmers Market is located in the parking lot of the Poulsbo Village Medical/Dental Center, at the corner of NE Iverson Street and 7th Avenue NE in Poulsbo, Washington.

And that's the latest haps and life is good.

  Best Regards,

  Kimberly
