Hi everybody! Chalie Holmes here. From Williamsport Pa. I have wanted an Alembic for over 25 years and 2 years ago as a christmas present, my wife purchased a series I short scale Distillate from BassNorthwest(and kudos to Evan).I'm trying to get the history on this amazing instrument. The serial number is O4C13314. This bass has made playing much easier espicially in the upper register! So, if anyone out there in Alembicloverland can provide the history of this phenomonal instrument please do!! Thank you so much!(Pictures are coming soon) P.S. Thank you to the Wickersham family for making my sonic dreams and ease of performance a reality!!!!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new bass! Nice up in those PA hills, I lived off of Interstate 15 many moons ago. Nice to have you aboard. Enjoy that bass and Play it Healthy!

You obviously have a great wife! I've tried to get my cat to buy me instruments, but she has no money...at least she hasn't sharpened her claws on my Alembic...yet.

Hey There Charles,
Welcome! I also have a short scale Distillate... And I also love it!!
I might be wrong, but with that serial number, I believe your bass is a Custom one, not a Distillate from the original series. But let's wait and see what Mica has to say!
Congratulations on your new bass, hope you will have many years of fun!!!

I followed your advice Dave and posted my serial number and anxiously await the details. Art, where on 15 did you live? Tony, that was a funny one! (ha ha!) Greg, from what I have been reading you are probably right!
I have been enjoying my Alembic since day one (but who has not?!!!) Anyway, for sound I use a number of configurations because I use Bag End Exclusively and that sometimes consists of using 2 D10BX-D (one for bottom and one for treble) or I'll use One D10BX-D for top and two 15 for bottom. I have to use it like that due to ohm issues being that the 2x10 is 4 ohm and the 15's are 8ohm each (S15D and S15X-D). For power I'm using the QSC 2450. For pre-amps, most of the time I use 2 FX-1 along with the DS-5R Rackmount. Sometimes I will use an FX and my Superfilter because I can dial in the monsterously earthshaking low frequencies on this side of town (ah heh heh heh!)
I so much love the craftmanship of all Alembic products and in my opinion, there is none better!! Peace to you all forever!

Yikes!! I read some of these rigs and wonder where you practice...airplane hangars??!! I run an old Acoustic 370 with a 4x10 and 1x15 cab and my bandmates and everyone at the practice space look at me like I'm the grim reaper or something...soundmen ask me to turn down and I'm at 2...how do you use that much wattage?!

My cat may not attack my bass, but she does go after my speakers; I protected my nice HECO woofers with cayenne pepper, but she poked a hole in one tweeter I just discovered today...I should start playing loud rock as a punishment( i've been keeping my music to my workshop away from her; loud stereos spook her) but maybe she was trying to push an upgrade...

I practice in my basement. I'm careful about the volume although once in a while I'll crank it up just feel the earth move (ah heh heh heh!) I love to have that power at my fingertips if necessary. But for me it's all about the tone, but, if I get in a situation where I have to crank it to back everone else up I will (although that is a rare occasion) As for your cat....hmmmm I own 4 dogs, I'll take a picture of them, enlarge it, send it to you and you can put it in front of your speakers for protection! Good luck on that issue!

I rented a room at a ranch owned by an advertising exec that was never there... about 30 years ago. If my memory serves me right it was called Trails End Quarter Horse Ranch.

Sweet!!! that may just work! My old cat (the dearly departed Spud) would've ripped the pic to shreds( she used to fight dogs, even pit bulls and german shepherds,etc. and always won!!!) but Emily seems to be a bit more timid...I'm trying to find the grille covers...problem with too much stuff and places to store it...Tony.
