I'm fairly certain my Series II is a solid body. I weights a ton.

I played
this one
and it's hollow, you can see it in the picture of the controls cavity.

This one looks like it might have a chambered body to reduce weight. Good catch FC. Alembic will construct an instrument with chambered bodies at the customer's request. Even then, I would consider it a semi-hollow body.

My Guild has been redone electronically, at last!!! New DarkStar pickups from Fred Hammon at Hammon Engineering, and new passive electronics done by Jim Mouradian of Mouradian Guitar in Cambridge, Mass. This bass is now absolutely AWESOME!!!! You can see the new pics on my personal MySpace page, listed above!!
Have a GREAT day!!! More soon!!

Out of extreme curiosity....
I own a 1967 Guild Starfire bass. It has the original Hagstrom bisonic pickup (one) in the bridge postion.
Can you guys at Alembic still modify Starfires liek the above? If so, I would love to talk to someone about getting mine done. Let me know.

You should give Mica or Susan a call. If I recall correctly, the best time is between 10:00 and 4:00 PST.

Does any one know what all the knobs on Jack's original Bass did? Is it possible to replicate his tones with aftermarket parts?

Hi Syd, welcome to the board. If you run a site search (top right corner of page) there have been a number of threads on Jack's bass and tone. Also, check out this
current thread
on Jack's bass.

Okay, here's what you do with a bass like that. Turn every knob all the way up, do the same for your amp, and proceed to rock out! Nah, not really. That thing is awesome, though, I bet you can get tons of sounds from it.
