Hi Guys, enclosed plse find some scans of my fantastic Spyder bass and his small brother. This model is approx 30cms in length and was buildt back in 1989 by a dutch artisan for me. And also you see me with my new baby in Entwistle style, my biggest influence.... Many greetings Oliver Baumann

Tried to look a litte bit like Entwistle in the
old days... :-)
The small one is really funny; I showed this many
years ago to John when I met him at the Frankfurt
Musik Messe...

Nice bass! The big one is cool too In the second picture you look as if you are holding a weapon and if the photographer makes a mistake, he gets it! J/K

Looks really good. Is it heavy? How's the balance? And does the small bass actually play?

Very nice bass indeed! I wish I could hear it, I'm sure it sounds fantastic..... I wish I could own one. I have an '83 Exploiter, and I like it, but I'm sure it is not quite the same as yours.

Have you left the house since you received it? Or do you just send the wife out for more food and beer? ;>)

BTW, what did JAE say when you showed him the little bass?

Hi Elzie, hi Jet!

Elzie:
yeah you are right, but isn?t this a weapon? :-)
It has around 5kgs, real heavy but sounds like
nothing else. It has a sustain that stands for
hours.... :-)
The balance is absolutely great. It stays just
in this position as it on the scans! Absolutely
comfortable even with the rest to place your arm
on. As for the small one, this was made in 1989
by a dutch artisan out of perspex and then laquered. The model is completely 3D and everything is worked out, the PU?s the knobs and it even has real small strings on it!

Jet:
Yes, the Spyder sounds absolutely exploding.
I think this is the result of several single
facts like the heavy body, the big headstock,
the massive silver inlaid and the big solid single
tailpieces. Yes I can?t get my hands off the Spyder at the moment... :-)
As said it was many years ago that I met John
in Frankfurt and when I showed the model to him.
He was very suprised about this but unfortunately I don?t have a photo from this; I only got a signature from him in my timer.....

Btw, one of his original 4string Spyders with
pointed headstock is hanging in the Hard Rock Cafe of Berlin/Germany.

thanks for your post.
Yeah this axe is really great and my absolute
dream machine since more than twenty years when
JE played the originals.
As for the amp, no it is an old Marlboro guitar
amp. But you better forget about it... :-)

No, no, if it was what I thought it was then you could keep the thing for eternity! LOL. My first bass amp was a 25 watt Marlborough. Aside from learning, it wasn't good for much else.

great looking bass. This thing really is a bass with an attitude.
So you got yours, I have mine (already some time), now let's see when Brother Roger will have his Dragonclaw and I'll try to set up a meeting. I'll ask Brother Jan (maybe he will have a S2 too at that time) and Brother Mattheus too, or Brother Werner ...

here in Holland people at the seismographic institue are already in big stress. It seems that east of Holland there's a big rumbling going on. It lasts for a couple of days now.......
I think, Oliver hasn't slept much since his spyder arrived.... ha, ha, ha

Hi,

just came back from a 2 days job travel and saw senmens pictures. Oh boy, that looks like boys, store away your toy guitars, here come's the punisher !. I guess this monster has the double size of a F.....bass at least. Wow, I'm impressed.

BTW: if the earthquakes changes their frequency, it might be me and my MK Std trying to funkify on old Level42 tunes.

Count me in for a european Alembic day.
