Big Tuna finally have some recordings here where you can actually hear the bass. In fact you can hear too much bass but that's the venue - honest.
recorded on my Zoom H2 at PJ molloys Irish Bar in Dunfermline.

I disagree, the bass level sounds fine to me; and your tone is nice and even across the frequency range.  Very nice recording on the H2.

I like the version of Costello's Pump It Up.  The bass lines move well, which is of course a highlight of that song.  Back in the seventies, there was a period where I heard a lot of Costello's stuff, and I got to see them live once.  The thing that did it for me was the bass lines; I think Bruce Thomas' lines were wonderful and really helped to make the songs the innovative tunes that they were.  He was the perfect bass player for those songs.  So I enjoyed hearing you cover that tune!

Sounds great.  Ain't the H2 amazing??!!  One thing: Hard to Handle was written by Otis Redding, Allen Jones, and  Alvertis Bell.  The Black Crowes merely did the 4,873rd cover of the song. (My favorite version was a Dead New Years Show I was at from 1980 or '81 with Etta James on lead vocals and the Tower of Power horn section sitting in.)

Thanks guys. There a few fluffs in there but so long as we're having fun and the crowd are dancing, who cares?
We're all pretty impressed with the H2 - we just need to find a venue where we can get the perfect placement. Those recordings were taken from right next to the board but the sound guy warned me it was a bit of a bass trap and would come out a little boomy. We took a video that night too so at some point we're going to merge the two and put something up on youtube or myspace.
Bill... I've had this conversation several times with our 'webmaestro'. He says we're doing the black crowes version. I've suggested that using his logic, we should put That's Life down to Dave Lee Roth but he can't get to grips with that kind of thinking ;-)  My favourite version of Hard to Handle is on the extras for Festival Express. You can't beat PigPen's singing for a song like that.

I guess that's the theory that explains the Jaggar/Richards credit on Love in Vain on Let it Bleed! lol
