New mix with Alembic skylark

Hi everyone,
I just finished mixing a new song called planet  I used my alembic skylark on it.  One track through a fulltone fulldrive 2 and the other through a timmy pedal.  I also used some amplitude plugins on the guitar tracks.
 
The acoustic guitar is a JP Rushing parlor sized guitar.

Beautiful EV! The Skylark sounds really full and powerful, and I really like the delicate sound of your JP Rushing too - it sounds great with your voice - very clear and clean. I really like Hopeless, which, according to your site, also features your Skylark. It sounds appropriately dark and acoustic on this number. This song has a very interesting mix of tight, clear, bright tone and dark, minor, layered stuff going on - very unexpected. How's the progress on your Fano? I'm interested to hear it.
 
Your songs sound unlike anything I'm hearing out there these days. Granted, I don't really tune into the pop scene or much of mainstream radio. I kind of get a vibe of The Roches and Ani DiFranco.  
 
BTW - in addition to your musical pursuits, I see that you're a teacher and thought I'd add that your students are very lucky to have you. I spent many years as an elementary art educator and I know the kind of difference one can make in a child's life. Keep on . . .

I used the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 and the Timmy pedal on the heavier chorus part  you are not the only person out of place on this planet....  I added amplitude plugins which were amp simulation plugins because i recorded direct, so it added ambience to the guitar tracks to help them sit better with the drums that were recorded in a rehearsal space.
 
The timmy is a cool pedal made by Paul Cochrane, he makes them by hand.  I have a photo of it on my pedalboard on the EVT Productions site.  It's setup cool... it has a bass and a treble that you have all the way left, and then by turning it clockwise, it takes away from the the frequency.  I also love the Barber Tone Press it's a compressor pedal, and it works really nicely with the timmy pedal.

Well actually, planet is the first song mixed with my new pc, which I bought through Front End Audio.  And, it's the first song I have done with a live drummer.  
 
We recorded the drum tracks for 10 songs to make an album.  Now I'm working on adding everything else to the drum tracks, and mixing the songs.

lol you remember about the Fano, yes I'm STILL waiting.... he moved into a new space and it's been taking a long time.  
 
I really do love my JP Rushing, I would like to get an OM sized one someday.  I really like the smaller sized acoustics.  They record really well.  Dreadnoughts have a boominess when mic'd that make them more difficult to sit well in a mix.
 
Yes, I do enjoy my job with the kids.  I actually teach them literacy through music.  I go to different classes with an acoustic guitar and I teach them different songs to help them with reading, phonics, rhyming... etc.  And, I also prepare them for concerts.  I work with a chorus teacher who plays keyboard, and another teacher who plays saxophone.  It's pretty cool.   I want to start recording what we do with the kids.
