Author Topic: Need a real case for my Skylark (Read 117 times)

I recently purchased a Skylark from a member of this forum (thanks AGAIN Kevin!!!) and am supremely impressed by it every time I play.

I am not happy with the soft case though. It's sturdy, and I can stand on it (tested WITHOUT the guitar in the case heh) but it's not going to take any sort of serious impact, and the Skylark is loose (can feel it moving around in the case).

I'd really like to find a hardshell case to propect by baby! I can't seem to find cases in the Alembic store. The Skylark is longer than any guitar I have, so none of my other cases will work. I would, however, prefer to get one that is made for the Skylark. My bass player ran over his Modulus (he feels really bad about this, so shhhhh) with his car, and because of the chioce case the Q6 survived with no damage what so ever!! I want that kind of protection, but hit me hard if I run over it with MY car.

Thanks to the Alembicians for making this wonderful tool! The Alembicist in me wants another, and another.

Call or email Alembic to ask about cases. They are included in the price list (click on the Site map at the home page). Regular hardshell cases are $280 and road cases start at $450, if these prices were updated in January. The standard hard shell case is not strong enough to drive over (shudder... what a horrible thought!) but will provide solid local protection. If you're a traveling musician or the band all loads in the same truck/van, a road case might be the way to go. There have been several discussions of OEM cases here. Use the search button on the top right of any forum page to look them up.

Always a pleasure to hear from you Mike! That did the trick. It also JUST occured to me that i could call Alembic for that kind of info.

Just out of curiousity, if you ordered from an Alembic dealer would you get the usual associated discount?

Might save a bit of money.
