Filled-in on upright bass with our "little-sister" band the Wayfaring Whistlepigs for a dance last weekend at a Labor Day campground event. 20 years on we've been the Camp host band there for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, beginning and ending our Summers. The next generation has taken over that gig... and I'm still here.

*I also subbed with Harwell-Grice Band on Sunday, but as it was an annually held memorial service, I thought maybe pictures would be out of order. I did think the underlying plan was a great idea though. The closest friends of the deceased gather once a year, and have a picnic, with his favorite music, dancing, food, drink, basically... a party. They tell their favorite stories about this fella, and remember. They were evidently a fan of the band, and I was honored to be part of that.

Here's a funny one; instead on just subbing-in on bass, the whole band got the call... another band couldn't make it, so we brought the Luv Buzzards to Parkway Brewing Co. here in Salem Virginia last night. Parkway has become a nice venue now. Back in the early days of microbrewery gigs, they led the way of making it into a venue. But that first stage... it was literally wood pallets with indoor/outdoor porch carpet. Still... it was a place to play.

And it happens to be the first stage I ever put that Alembic over my shoulder and plugged-in. If I really dig, there might be a picture somewhere.

Here's me and Ted and the boys last night, with old #621 doin' a number on the low-end.

*found that picture. The Persuader 5-string, still with the aftermarket electronics, first gig ever. June 28th, 2014.
