Electrum Guitar on eBay
« on: February 21, 2025, 09:34:02 AM »
...in need of some love... what a hot mess. Just a dozen serial numbers away from my Persuader 5-string. Man, would I love to find this one locally and have myself a project. (like I ain't got enough of those...) It sure would be nice to undo some of this sadness.

Kinda' Spoiler-esque, ain't it?  ???

Just to clarify my position, I'm not really serious about this listing, just interested in it. The price is a little silly-season for all that foolishness at the headstock, and there's always the larger point that I don't need it. But see, my yard sale sensibilities zone-in on a fixer-upper way before my eyes see the price tag, or the problem-solving part of my brain processes how much trouble it'll be. In the meantime, it ain't goin' anywhere so I'll ponder...

It was 'before my time' here, so no experience at all with these. The reference page says they were an active model from 1978-85. This one is a 1989 which makes it a little late to the party but that happens plenty. I nosed through the Electrum Showcase and was surprised at how many variations on the model there were. Most I saw had the 'Bishop' headstock. Several different electronics configurations. Quite a few with Kahler trems, which I guess was an 80's thing to do. Even a couple set-neck E models. I saw one with three STR pickups even. This one has two knobs and a pointer, so I'm guessing the controls are simply Volume/Filter/Pickup Selector. The pickups look like HG activators, just like I put in the Miyagi guitar. It says the Kahler was replaced with a Gotoh bridge. I don't know enough about guitar hardware to know how egregious that is. I don't particularly care for wigglesticks anyway, so I'd probably deck it.

Again, just thinking out loud... I know very little about the guitar models. I wonder if these were medium-scale or long? Available in either, I reckon.

I have my eyes opened for a 28" scale Alembic Baritone with a small standard body/Stanley Clarke shape.

That would be a cool thing. I'll remember that, and keep an eye open, Wolf.  :o

This one is a long-scale. (25-1/2") I sent the seller a question, and received an answer and a BIN offer at $2795. It's still an awful lot of work getting it back to presentable at that price. There was a really nice Electrum for sale here recently that used to belong to Bill TGO, for just a bit more.
