I am not normally drawn to Birdseye Maple but that is a unique and stunning looking piece of wood. The look of the wood on the back of the headstock is also quite nice. A lot of cool Alembics seem to end up in Japan.

That is a really nice bass. Birdseye maple with a little marbling in it is a special thing. If I'm reading correctly, it's a medium-scale too.


*I would guess Victor was either the original owner or a subsequent caretaker. My other Series bass has its truss-rod cover engraved with a name as well, but not the original owner's.

Without pictures or other explanation, this is a bit concerning:
"Truss Rod: Note that the rod has been loosened and cut off, but there is no problem with the neck"

I think that was a translation issue.  Google's version from the Japanese says:
Truss rod: There are some points to note. There is currently no problem with the neck by cutting the rod slack.

Second opinion from a different translator says:
Truss rod: There is no problem with the current neck with a loose rod cut with precautions.

I think what they are saying is that the action is good but the rod is currently loose?

Yeah, I saw that... I hope it's a translation goof. Like there wasn't a better way to express what they meant in English? An '84 should have dual rods. Someone would have to be determined to cut both truss-rods through that tiny opening. I'm taking it to mean the truss-rods are completely slack. Lefty-loosey, righty-tighty. Of course, turning it to the right cuts it off here.  Hard to say.

Or perhaps the previous owner had the truss rods "cut off" as in they were replaced by a new pair of rods, and that the neck is in fine shape, considering that replacement? Just my .02 cents, but it sort of makes sense to me, considering how the instrument looks to have been looked after very well, otherwise.

But a nice bass, that's for sure. I can imagine that top with a roasted maple, or birds eye maple, fretboard would also look really nice.

It should be translated as "Item to note (caution):   Trussrod is completely loose.  There is no issue with current set up."



SO, yeah, Jimmy is spot on!   
if you are to use lighter gauge strings, you may encounter some issues.
