Hi all - I've been so happy with this bass and I hate to be looking for a new home for it but it's time. You may remember it from this post, or others.

The detailing on this one is incredible... while I could never guess whether any of these options ended up on other Alembics, I know I've never seen one with fretboard binding, a Purpleheart neck, or this body shape before. It's also got the knobby peghead!  This bass is perfect, plays incredibly, and is among the most beautiful I've ever seen.

You can see more pictures on Reverb, but please know the price for club members is a little lower. That said, I'd ideally love to trade this for a different Alembic plus cash. The bass is in Chicago with me and I'd be willing to make a decent road trip if you'd rather meet and pick it up.

Basses I'd be interested in:
- Europa or Elan (Plus preferred!)
- Spoiler (there's one floating around with both pickups pushed down close to the bridge that I'd be very interested in!)
- EVH Signature
- Persuader - the more interesting the better
- Vector

In all cases I'm looking for medium (most preferred) or long scale basses with 4-strings and Filter+Q-switch (single or per-pickup) or Filter+Q-switch with bass/treble switches. I like the weird ones... weird options, extra switches and knobs, etc. Happy to chat by phone/video at length so we can each ask all the questions we'd like.

That really is a special bass. I'm kinda glad it's not medium scale.  ;)

So, is this Short or Medium scale??  I was seriously thinking about this bass for a while (until I had to allocate funds elsewhere) and all this time, I was thinking this was a Short scale bass.

Very nice looking bass, and super unique.   Still on my short list of basses I'm considering :)

Ah, sorry, I could have sworn I saw it listed as short scale on Reverb.

Well, now this is really strange. When sonofa_lambic owned it it seems to have been a medium scale bass. I trust him - hence I just measured it twice to confirm that it is indeed now a 30.75” short scale bass. I would not have thought it was possible for a bass to shrink, but I can’t think of any other explanation.

Today, 8/6/2024, this bass measures 15.375” from nut to 12th fret, for a total scale length of 30.75”.
