Sam Ash Closing All Stores Sale
« on: May 03, 2024, 01:58:01 PM »
Sam Ash has announced that it's closing all of its stores with a "everything must be sold" sale.  They had been in business for 100 years.

Apparently they had been looking for a buyer, but at this point have not been successful.

I have heard that ch 10 is inevitable. The shame is the vendors are out a lot of money and no recourse as all of the stock belongs to the creditors.

I can only recall ever being in the Sam Ash Music in Richmond one time, probabably... twenty years ago. It was the first big-box guitar store I'd ever seen. I was in town for a three-day conference and was looking for something to do in the afternoons. Nice place. Pretty good selection of mid/upper-end guitars to choose from. It's a shame somebody couldn't buy it and turn it around. On the other hand, I get to see what a headache it can be just running one guitar store... hard to imagine managing a chain of them in different markets.
