3 way Q switch on recent Europa?

Hello fellow Alembicans,


I did some digging, but could not find any definitive answer other than FC bass saying in some of his post.


Can you swap 2 way Q switch on Europa with 3 way Q switch??


I had my Japanese distributer source the parts and exchange the switch, but reading some of the posts here, looks like Europa is not compatible with this mod?


Please let me know.  Also the distributor is asking Mica via email.

The differences between the settings will be more subtle than what you were used to, but you should definitely hear the difference when toggling between the off and maximum settings.

Also there are two varieties - 0-3-6 dB and 0-6-9 dB. I have the 0-3-6 dB version on my Spoiler, as I found the standard 0-8 dB switch too harsh. Especially with older strings, the differences are very subtle. When you do a little slap-and-pop, that should bring out the differences.

I seem to remember something about Europa/Rogue electronics having board-mounted resistors that make swapping out the Q-switches different. I think it's still possible; Mica will know what you need Takeo-san.

I've been in contact with Hajime that the 3-position Q switch he ordered was for Activator systems, and there isn't a version for the Europa circuit. I explained that it would take a little time to get the engineering attention to give him instructions, but it is on the list.

Thank you very much for your clarification.  I jumped gun, my fault.  I will ask him to revert back to the original switch and keep the 3-way until when your engineering attention catch up to this topic.

Again, thank you very much for the input.    I really REALLY love that Europa.  Hajime-san told me that it was configured "Mica's recommendation". Super nice!
