So the bass is most likely somewhere in Germany... reading the guy's unfortunate post, UPS left the package at the door, and 10 minutes later it was not to be found.

That leaves open several possibilities.

Shipping an Alembic WITHOUT insurance???

I've had 2 Alembics to Poland and one Emerald bass go astray. I'm both instances the insurance covered the losses and I got my money back. I never received the Emerald. Bit of a shame. The Polish basses showed up eventually I believe so someone got 2 free basses.
I hope satisfaction ensues.

The bass was eventually delivered. It was damaged which is why I suspect it took so long and why UPS lied about having delivered the package when it wasn't. I've run into a similar situation where the UPS driver claimed to have delivered a package only for it to show up a couple of days later with a ripped box and dents in the item.
