A Reminder - Please Be Respectful of Each Other
« on: September 11, 2022, 11:29:47 AM »
As a reminder; our club is considered by our members to be something of an oasis among internet communities.  Those who are new members find a place where they are welcomed, and where they can ask questions and receive helpful responses.  Those who are long-time members consider themselves a real community of friends; family.

There are very few instances of someone being harsh with or attacking another member.

The reason this works is that we treat each other with respect, with compassion, with understanding.  There is no reason to treat anyone here in our community with anything less.

There are other gear and instrument boards out there where members belittle each other over their gear choices or levels of knowledge.  This is not one of them.

I'll make two more quick comments.  One - leave your religion and politics outside the door.  And two - this is not a commercial marketplace, it is first and foremost a community of friends and of admirers of Alembic instruments; please be mindful and respectful of that.

As always, well said Modder Dave.   I was hoping you might be chiming in.  This really is a very special place in the cyber world that I hope we never take for granted

Thanks for your post, David. When things get snarky it ruins the experience, and makes me wish for an ignore option.

I want to say that I'm FINNALLY apart of the Alembic club. A place where i can computable tale about or related experiences and grow from it. Constructive critizim is important, but meanness and can create a Toxic environment. This is a place where we can escape and be at peace for a while.

Problems arise when the culture of an environment is unknown or assuming that the culture is like your own. This environment has a culture all its own. Thank you Dave for reminding those new to this space that there is a respect and decorum here that does not exist on social media.

Beautifully said. This is the best forum there is. You guys and gals rule!
The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.

This forum is the best and its members are some of the nicest folks out there. I have learned quite a bit about Alembic basses here and always receive courteous, informative responses. Boy do I have stories about "other" music boards (including one where I was an admin), but that was in the past. This board is the BEST! Thank you!

Wow. I've been really busy and haven't check in much in the last few months. I guessed I missed some stuff. Thank you, Dave, and thank you everyone, for being just about the best place on the Web to hang out. Just because I'm not posting doesn't mean I'm not thinking of all my friends here.

I've never seen any mean people here. It is a safe place like you have said and I've never been called names for not knowing something from a know it all.

For some reason, I will always feel like the new kid in class here. I don't know why.

Where else can you get to speak directly to Mica, and Jimmy Johnson ? :)
