Bright Switches (on instruments)
« on: April 13, 2022, 05:26:53 AM »
I'm really curious about these. On Darling (and I reckon some other) Alembic guitars, the pickup selector switches are 3-position toggles.

[OFF>ON>BRIGHT]

I hear the obvious boost to high frequencies. And it isn't functioning quite in the same a Q-switch does, at least not in the sense that I thought it would. Even with the Filter of either pickup set at a very low cutoff point, there is a marked spike in the higher spectrum. Yet, it does somehow still seem affected by the filter like a Q would be.

Are these switches analogous to say, the bright switches on an F-1X? Am I thinking about it wrong or just backward? Are the bright switches before the filters in the circuit? However it works, it's a pretty cool thing!
