New to the Alembic club
« on: December 26, 2021, 10:52:52 AM »
Hi
My names Bruce and I been slowly becoming obsessed with the Alembic bass - mostly the Epic or Essence. Wondering how hard it is to find one and buy one when living in UK ? any one got advice, experience that might help me along - happy Christmas and stay safe

Hi Bruce, welcome. There are a few of us from the UK here on the forum. In my experience, Epics are the most common alembics i have seen on line in the UK and before 2020, you could pick them up used over here for between £1000 to £2000  But over the past couple of years i have seen the listed prices over £2000.

Hi Bruce!

There is an old series 1 on reverb in the UK that looks interesting.

Hi
Thanks Jazzyvee and Slam. I might get told off here but I'm not keen on the series one shape, Stanley Clarke etc. Much prefer the Epic or Essence. Would bbq very happy to find an Epic really. Not in a rush. I have a decent bass to play but just becoming really interested in the Alembics - I think they may be addictive.

Jazzyvee - great to hear there are a few members in UK - maybe I'll be able to be in touch over time

Stay safe
Bruce

No-one will chastise you here for your taste in alembics. It's all down to personal taste. Beware, they can be addictive.
