It isn't the color that gets to me so much as the body not having any type of contours which makes me think "slab of wood". If the grain showed I might feel different but in the solid color it is just too boxy for me. 

The lack of typical Alembic contouring had me wondering if this was even a real Alembic. It does look odd. I'm not a huge fan of flip-flop finishes either, but somebody got what they wanted! The headstock is cool.

Yes, Tom, someone got what they wanted!

This was custom order for a talented cousin of mine when he was about 15. He stayed with my grandparents for a month or so one summer (they lived next door!) and my cousin got to help make it (lots of sanding and prep sanding between finish coast mostly). It was *exactly* the guitar he wanted at the time. Mom did try to talk him into abalone inlays.
