yeah, I've had my eye on that, but it doesn't lok like it has LEDs, it's the same body as my current bass, plus it's in italy
the top on that bass becons me, but i gotta hold out for the right deal on the right bass.

sigh... the quest continues... 🕵️

I love the Essence bodyshape and that fretless, wow, man...
Not just a bass, this is an Alembic!

that fretless was a real find.  got it on Ebay, believe it or not.  i've yet to see a 5-string fretless Alembic in any flavor pop up anywhere since.  I've been playing it for about a year now.  it's definitly got its quirks, the truss rods require more tweaking than any of the other alembics i've owned ever did.  but i like my action nice and low so that probably doesn't make it any easier.  nice small body, not as heavy as the Elan, tonally it's a complete 180 - a totally different creature entirely.  But it's not window dressing, it gets a daily workout from the old guy...

I see it’s been a little while since anybody posted on this thread but I came across your story today and I really related to it. Especially to the parts about physically breaking down. I’m a few years older than you and after several years of not playing I decided to pick up my epic again. Boredom from COVID restrictions inspired me see if I still ‘had it’.

My reason for contacting you is because of the thread you started ‘well, it all looked good until I saw the headstock’. I’m the guy who kinda ‘outed’ the scammer who tried to off that bass on reverb. I always knew how tight all the people who post on this forum are but that thread showed me just how tight everyone is. I consider myself lucky to be a member of it even if it’s in a small way.

I know the pain of years playing countless gigs in countless cities, towns and countries. If I haden’t been a musician I would never gotten the chance to experience all the things that have made me the person I am today. Now that my eyesight is failing I consider myself lucky to have the gift of being to play an instrument.

As for my my rig I have a beautiful epic 4 with a zebrawood top and I’m currently saving up for that new Squier paranormal jazz bass to play through my peavey max 100 amp. I also dabble in guitar and I have a couple of strats that I run through a little Hiwatt amp.

I’m glad I could share some of your insights and I hope to run across more of your posts in this forum.

Cheers,
Pete
