R.I.P. Peter Green
« on: July 25, 2020, 10:49:53 AM »
Fleetwood Mac founding member, Peter Green, has passed away.   He was in the band even before John McVie!   Great blues guitarist back when FM was one of the greatest blues bands around.

Very saddened to hear about the passing of Peter Green. I was fortunate to see all of the "core" British blues guitarists back in the day, Peter had the magic touch and was also a great vocalist and songwriter. Such a shame that he had such a tragic life after a glowing start. The three night run of Fleetwood Mac shows I attended at the Boston Tea Party in 1969 (with local band J Geils opening) are among my most memorable concert experiences. The last time I got to see Peter perform was a late show at the Fillmore East in 1970 when Fleetwood Mac was on a quadruple bill headlined by Joe Cocker and the Grease Band along with King Crimson (first tour with Greg Lake), and the Voices of East Harlem. We left as Joe Cocker was starting his encore and the sun was already up and blazing... crazy times.

RIP Peter!

I have really come to appreciate and enjoy the early Fleetwood Mac music in recent years. I was always aware of it, and always following that heartbeat John McVie brought, but there might not have been a band at all but for Peter Green's vision. What a gift, to so many people. He and Mick, I believe had stayed close. This must be a tough time.

Very sad about this.   It was a shock when I saw this earlier today.

I remember seeing him at a gig opening for BB King.
