I’m looking to upgrade over my 5-string Elan (shown in my introduction post). I am sufficiently funded for a good used but not abused MK deluxe, Series I or Series II or similar level instrument. After 5 near misses due to various mishaps such as not being able to get something shipped from Europe or flaky non-committed sellers, I decided to take a club members advice after the last debacle and post a WTB here and see what shakes loose. My parameters are:
Factory installed LEDs in neck. Preferably violet but will consider any color.
5-string (will consider a 4-string exploiter/spyder). Wide string spacing. Long scale.
Fatboy (I believe the technical term is MXY or wide aperture) pickups. Prefer anniversary
electronics if not a series bass.
Smaller body shape preferred but I’m open on this one. An omega cutout would be nice.
Mahogany core preferred.
Reasonably priced. I’m not looking to bend anyone over the barrel price-wise but OTOH I won’t be taken to the cleaners, either. Just because I have money to spend doesn’t mean I have to spend it or that I have to go along with some of the outrageous prices on instruments that I’ve queried about that have been listed for months and months that the owner will not budge on.
I love the tone of my Elan but I’m in a position where I can afford something prettier and nicer so I’m gonna do it if I can. I play in the dark a lot, the music I play requires me to be all over the neck and so neck LEDs are high priority. I put a FretFX system on my fretless for this reason and it’s not that great if you really wanna know the truth about it. That’s probably the prime motivation for me initiating this search. I will consider trading the Elan, but most likely I’ll put it up for sale once I find its successor.
I cannot get my email to activate in my profile no matter what I do, so if you have assistance to render, post a reply to me in this forum and we'll find a way to communicate. I have a lot of intermittent spare minutes in my day where I can surf eBay, reverb and this forum so your response won’t go un-noticed for long.
